August 26, 2006 BMX show number three!
We woke up in the morning and made a scrapbook page for Keith! It was really fun to do! Our excitement was already rising just by the time we woke up. After we finished home things we sparkled our hair (for the fun of it) and headed off to the fair with our friend Molly!
Of course through the whole first part of walking through the fair we were just thinking of going to the BMX show, (I'm not kidding, we couldn't stop talking about it!) Joanie and I asked what time it was about half a million times. I don't think that Jenna will ever want to tell the time again after that! Before the show when we were watching Rhys Thomas jugglemania show when Joanie hit me on the shoulder and squealed out that she saw Don and Jaren. My first reaction was to say "where?!" my second was to look straight at them without further instructions. Joanie was stuck to the bench she was so excited and I almost jumped out of my skin and ran after them. But then I thought better of it and decided to be polite and leave them alone (that was no easy feat!). Jenna said that she would have gone after them, but I doubt it. Of course it was just too cool to see them before the show!
After a little while more we headed off for the four o'clock BMX show! We sat down and when Keith noticed us he walked over and handed us all BMX stickers! I don't think he was quite sure if Molly was with us because she certainly wasn't as excited as we were which gave off the impression of her being on her own. But he guessed rightly that she was with us (probably saw me talking to her) and handed her a sticker also.
We started screaming like crazy during the practice, and the guys started riding hotter and hotter! And that was just at practice! When the show started Keith for the third time pointed us out to the crowd and smiled at us! I wonder what the other people in the stands felt about us being pointed out, probably thought it was kind of crazy!
Keith did one of his best tricks right in front of us which was so awesome. Matt Yoder fell off his board and hurt himself. He wasn't very happy about it considering that I saw him take his skateboard in both hands and throw it to the grass before he left. He also refused a hug from Keith's sister Kelli (he should have accepted!). Josh didn't pull off the stunt that he tried, but it was still cool. He tried to do it two times but ended up just sitting on the tire of his bike. He laughed it off when he was done and we had cheered for him anyway! Jaren took a skidding slide when he fell over. But nobody felt bad for him at all, because he was still beaming with laughter as he did it! We cheered (of course) and he smiled even more.
After the show we waited for the the other fans to walk away before we came to present our scrapbook page that we had made. Keith's face was so funny when we gave it to him! He thought it was so awesome! Josh got really excited about it too. He looked like a little boy the way he was beaming! Jeremy told Keith to "pass that thing on down so we can all see it!". So Keith passed it down after he was finished. Molly had her camera and was taking a video of them while they were looking at it.
When the page got down closer to the end of the table I got to talk to Mike Laird. Awesome! If your crazy enough to want to know generally what we said, then click here. Joanie asked Josh if he would pose for a picture with her. (view it here) Josh wouldn't smile but I still wanted to get my picture taken with him also. He tried to get away though (not really, he just went to go get something)! But then he stood near me to get his picture taken (view it here). "It's not supposed to be a prison photo! " was Joanie's reaction to seeing the face he was making. So Josh made his eyes really wide as he looked at her, but he still didn't smile (LOL!)!
Once that was done I did the unthinkable... I went over to Keith, with all my courage and asked him... "Would you go get a photo button done with us?". In that terrifying moment I felt like I was a very strange person. Who would ask Keith King to get a photo button done with them? But what was done, was done forever. I couldn't take that one back. Keith hadn't quite heard me the first time because someone rudely interrupted me (but don't read too much into that), but once he was done speaking with the person (no name, I'm not even sure who it was!) he turned to me and said "I'm sorry, what did you say?". So I repeated the question (not showing how embarrassed I was) and he said that he just needed to write something down and then he would go with us. He actually accepted my invitation!
I sat down on the bench with the rest of the girls feeling really weird about what I had just done, excited, but it was really a crazy thing to do. Jenna was getting mad at me because she thought that I was just being stubborn when I told her that we couldn't leave yet. She thought that I was trying to get up enough courage to ask him, she didn't even know that I had already done it! So when Keith came over and said something like "I'm ready now." Jenna really freaked out inside (she told me). We walked out of the tent and couldn't find the button place that we had planned on going to, but we got in line for another one that was closer while Jenna tried to find the other one. At one point for pretty much no reason at all I decided to put Jenna's fuzzy hat on Keith's head (I was trying to rearrange the things in my hands, so I had to put the hat somewhere, so... sorry Keith!), Keith thought that I wasn't looking and put it on Joanie's head with a "here".
When Jenna got back I wanted to see if I could find it (I had an idea of where it was, that I wanted to check up on) but as I was leaving Keith said to Jenna and Joanie "Go get that other girl, we can't have her flitting about while we're getting our picture taken." (as told by Jenna). So Jenna got me and we waited in line for a little while longer.
At one point someone was trying to get past Keith but he seemed to be in La La Land so he didn't notice the person. It took him a while to figure out that she wanted to push her stroller through. I wanted to get his attention to tell him that she wanted through but I was in a very awkward situation. I didn't want to call him Keith to his face and act like I had known him for years. But I didn't want to call him Mr. King either, it just seemed so weird to call him that. So I let him figure it out on his own that someone wanted past. Jenna asked Keith if he wanted her to get him a magnet or a button, Keith replied "You don't have to do that, I don't want you to spend your money on me!" but we insisted that we buy him one, so he told us that he would take a magnet. After waiting a little while more we got into the button place. "So where do you guys want me?" Keith asked, but the button lady had different ideas about it. She arranged it so that Keith was standing behind me and Joanie was standing behind Jenna. Keith was surprised that Molly didn't came over to join us in the picture so Jenna had to explain that she was shy and didn't really want to get her picture taken. So after the button lady had squashed us in close enough so that we were all in the picture, she clicked it. (if you want to see my picture button then click here) When that was done all we had to do was wait for the picture button's to be made. Keith asked "do you guys need me anymore?" Jenna said "what about your magnet?". Keith thought for a minute and then said that we could drop it by later. So he walked away and we waited to get our buttons.
I don't think that you could imagine us girls (excluding Molly, she wasn't as excited as we were considering that she wasn't in the picture anyway) excitement when we saw the picture. I mean... you don't get photo buttons with Keith King every day!
Later on we dropped the magnet off at the ticket booth with a note to Keith. The lady there thought it was really funny (she had seen us three times before because we bought tickets to get into the shows). After that we went home! I must say I was upset that we didn't get to go to the eight o'clock show that time. But we knew that Molly wouldn't want to be out so late...
