BMX show 2005, first show ever for me
Our brother Jeremy had this crazy idea to go to the BMX show at the fair. I was interested so since it was just he, Jenna and I at the fair, we decided to go.
That had to be the best idea we ever had. We paid for our tickets and walked into the eight o'clock show on Friday night. We sat up higher on the stands and watched as an un-known person (Keith King, we didn't know who he was at the time) rode around off the ramps. We were wondering who it was because he seemed so out of place to us.
When the warm ups started Jenna and I got really excited. Jeremy said "You do know that the show hasn't started yet?" We did, but it was just so cool we couldn't help getting excited.
When the show actually started we got even more excited. We were completely shocked when we saw Keith doing flatland. We had no idea that there was such a thing! So it was really, really awesome!
We stood up at every little thing and clapped until our hands hurt! When the show was over we went over to get autographs. We talked to them for a while as we went down the line. I would have bought a poster but somebody had stolen all of their merchandise! What a terrible thing to do! I was very upset about it.
I pulled out my butterfly notebook and let them sign it. When it got down to Don I said "You think you're manly enough to sign a butterfly book?" Don folded the notebook back to see it and said "It has butterflies on it?". But of course he didn't feel any less manly signing it.
After all the guys signed our things we had to go because mom would be at the entrance to the fairgrounds at any time waiting to pick us up.
My first taste of BMX was a good one, that had me wanting to see more.
